People Helping People (PHP) is the oldest food pantry in Hood County, Texas, and was established in 1983 by the Lake Granbury Ministerial Alliance as a focal point where local churches could direct people in need to obtain food and clothing. Its Board of Directors is composed of representatives from area churches and community organizations.
PHP is a 501c3 Charitable organization and has served Hood County since 1983 with NO PAID EMPLOYEES. With no payroll expenses, PHP is able to dedicate 100% of all donations to people in need within the Hood County.
PHP purchases approximately 4,000 pounds of food a week from the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) for distribution to about 150-200 families on a weekly basis.
There are also two Resale Shops where some of the donated clothes, furniture and house-hold items are made available to the public. The proceeds from these Resale Areas help pay for food required for distribution. People Helping People’s mission since its inception has always been to help anyone who has fallen on difficult times.
Approved clients can receive free food, along with other free items, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
